Tacky narcissists are moving to neighborhoods near you

Sunnyslope, Phoenix - As Californians flock to Phoenix on an unprecedented scale, downtown and central corridor, Gilbert, Glendale, Scottsdale, Mesa and many other neighborhoods have become beacons of private equity and coastal consumption. The spirit of Northern Arizona in towns like Prescott and Flagstaff is fading from the pressures of rapid suburbanization. Long-time Arizonans are voicing concerns. Felix Navidad of Mesa complains about luxury condos, new housing developments, and data centers consuming the globe’s most diverse desert in a layer of asphalt, concrete, and cookie-cutter homes. “Don’t get me started about the cost of a Modelo at Gracie’s Tax Bar,” says Steve Bash, a 29-year-old NFT artist living in Roosevelt Row, where the aesthetic gives Kyrsten Sinema and the rent makes rich men in NYC lots of money.
